Improper Trash Disposal in Houston Leads to Fines

The solid waste department in Houston County picks up ten to 12 loads of trash that are improperly disposed of every week, which they must pay contracts to pick-up that trash and cover landfill fees.

The city is working with the county commissioners to begin enforcing a $125 fine for residents that don’t comply with procedures.

Public education is the key to avoiding fines. The county is working with landfill customers to provide them with the guidelines for trash disposal.
