Crocs to be Made from Sustainable Materials Beginning in 2022

With a goal of becoming zero-carbon by 2030, Crocs is remaking its footwear with a material extracted from renewable resources and waste products. The new Crocs will debut in 2022. 

The new material, called Ecolibrium technology, was engineered in collaboration with Dow. It’s built with hydrocarbons extracted from renewable resources and waste products like palm oil and pulp paper, forming a carbon-negative process. The new shoes won’t be 100 percent Ecolibrium, but will feature a percentage of eco-friendly material that the brand hopes to increase to 50 percent by 2030.
