Zonar’s EVIR Saves Time, Money and Lives

Zonar, the leader in fleet health and safety, reminds attendees at the WasteExpo about its electronic verified inspection reporting (EVIR®) solution. Zonar's industry-leading technology improves and verifies Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's (FMCSA) mandated pre- and post-trip inspections and is compliant with all DOTOSHAMSHA and PTASP inspection requirements.

One pencil-whipped miss can cause a costly accident. Instead, use Zonar’s EVIR system to make sure each one is performed correctly and the results are captured accurately—every time.

  • Place a Zonar tag on each inspection zone of the vehicle or piece of equipment.

  • Drivers and operators must physically scan each tag when they inspect that zone’s components.

  • As they perform the inspection, they mark defects, add notes and capture photos.

  • When the inspection is complete, the results are uploaded into our fleet management platform.

In addition, the latest generation of EVIR comes with all the features of the original EVIR, but in a mobile-friendly app with additional features and functionality. EVIR also continues the legacy of helping to reduce processing time for inspections by more than 50 percent when shifting from traditional paper-based driver vehicle inspection reports (DVIR).

Now with EVIR Mobile, drivers and operators in the waste management industry have the freedom to conduct inspections with or without tags. While using RFID or NFC tags enables inspections to be verified, not all fleets, particularly those with leased and rented equipment, can leverage tags. By enabling tagless EVIR inspections, anyone can easily and quickly ensure inspections are completed accurately and results are digitally stored without the need for extra hardware. EVIR also provides users with the intuitive and patented Asset Map View, showing aerial views of customers' vehicles and equipment with guides for tag placement, as well as training videos and links within the application.

EVIR eliminates the need for paper-based reporting, helping drivers perform accurate inspections that are automatically collected, stored and easily integrated into maintenance software. This enables organizations to conduct more efficient inspection audits leading to fewer penalties due to lost records. Accurate inspections also help increase uptime by ensuring vehicle and asset issues are identified and addressed before they become potentially critical ones.

"Nearly twenty years ago Zonar introduced the first and only patented electronic verified inspection system, helping make our roads safer and our customer operations safer and more easily compliant with industry regulations," said Fred Fakkema, vice president of safety and compliance at Zonar. "Today, drivers, managers and operators in waste management need more options to protect and maintain both owned, intermodal and rented vehicles and equipment. We're proud to continue providing our customers with trusted and reliable solutions that help them support the overall health of their fleets and business."

Inspection history and data collected by EVIR can be easily accessed through Ground Traffic Control®, Zonar's web-based platform providing customers with a real-time look at fleet operations along with reports and alerts, and the ability to manage a single asset or an entire fleet. With customized dashboards for a broad range of users, anyone using GTC can make informed, data-based decisions that help improve operations across an organization.
