2022 marks the tenth year a herd of sheep is invited to live on and feed in the grassy inactive areas surrounding the Steuben County Landfill. The sheep are provided area to feed, shade, and water, and are taken care of medically and during offseasons by their owners. This partnership is mutually beneficial as the herd is taken care of, the sheep's owners are compensated, and the landfill is protected from trees and plants that developed deeper root systems and damage its caps.
