Reactions Mixed on Proposed Landfill for Low Level Hazardous Waste

Both support and discontent emerge from local communities as the discussion of a low-level hazardous waste facility takes center stage.

As concerns and backings arise, DOE-Oak Ridge Environmental Management hosted an informational community meeting with the public and representatives from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. There were reported to be over 100 attendees and a mixed variety of responses to the proposal.

The project must satisfy a number of legal and agency benchmarks before construction can begin.
