Longwood, Fla.-based Waste Pro continues its 2011 Southern shopping spree. To add to that bundle of purchases, the firm has acquired the Florida and Alabama operations of Emerald Waste Services. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Waste Pro purchased seven construction and demolition (C&D) landfills, one transfer station and four offices. “This acquisition greatly strengthens our footprint in the Florida Panhandle as well as southern Georgia and southern Alabama,” said John Jennings, president and CEO of Waste Pro, in a statement. “Additionally, Waste Pro now operates in 60 of Florida’s 67 counties.”
In early February, the firm announced that it had either acquired or reached agreements to buy a total of 10 waste companies and landfills in the South. Included in that round of activity was an agreement to buy Pelican Commercial Waste Services in suburban New Orleans. On Tuesday, Waste Pro announced that it had closed on the purchase.
