Schwarzenegger Halts Laws for Review

Sacramento, Calif -- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed an executive order requiring a six-month halt to writing and implementing new regulations so his administration can review them and evaluate their effect on state business, according to news sources. One of the laws the governor is scrutinizing is the e-waste recycling law signed this year by former Gov. Gray Davis that will make California the first state to legislate on computer and television recycling. The California Integrated Waste Management Board was going to define which pieces of equipment the law will affect, but Schwarzenegger has requested the board instead submit a report detailing how the law will affect business. Recycling advocates say this will delay implementing the law, which was scheduled to go into effect in July.
