McAllen, Texas, Cracks Down on Recycling Violations

The city of McAllen is cracking down on residents who don't know how to recycle.

Code enforcement officials will issue warnings and eventually fines.

Code Enforcement Officer Arturo Lopez said improper recycling practices makes work more difficult for city employees.

“We go by complaints. We get complaints from drivers and we go check out the blue bins. If we find any contamination, we start tagging the bins,” Lopez said.
