Resurrection Through Recycling

Just because you’re dead doesn’t mean you can’t still be useful. “Salvage: Recycling the Dead” is a project proposal by student Kerry Greville, who is pursuing her master’s degree in textile futures from Central Saint Martins at the University of the Arts London. The proposal argues for harvesting valuable elemental resources from cremated human remains and using them to manufacture textiles. The elements, including calcium, carbon, sodium and zinc, would be used to create fabrics and other product raw materials. Fundamentally, argues Greville in her proposal, it’s about learning as a society to view the human body as a commodity rather than simply an expired loved one.

Wonder if that fabric comes in soylent green?
