PET to PET Recycling Austria sees little change from 2022 to 2023 as the initiative reports it recycled just over 32,000 tonnes of PET bottles.

In 2022, it was reported that the overall tonnage of PET bottles recycled was 32,900, meaning a slight decrease was seen in 2023. In the first half of the year (from January to June), PET recycling was on a good pace, recycling 17,755 tonnes before seeing a significant drop in the second half of the year.

“We expect a higher return volume and better-quality bottles, making it possible to further increase the proportion of recycled material per bottle. However, we will also need to adapt our plant to the changed material qualities,” said Thomas Billes, managing director of the consortium.
