WHEN: Saturday, November 12, 2022, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. (noon).

WHERE: Meridian Waste Lunenburg Landfill, 45 Landfill Rd., Lunenburg, Va.

WHAT: The Tire Drop-Off Day is to help citizens clean up Lunenburg County and their personal property and diminish breeding environments for mosquitos by encouraging the drop-off and recycling of passenger tires during this one-time event.

“We strongly encourage residents to take advantage of this opportunity to help clean up the community by dropping off their used and unwanted passenger tires,” said Lunenburg Landfill’s General Manager and Lunenburg County resident Joe Gustaf. “Improperly discarded tires can take 50 to 80 years to break down, release gasses into the environment, and are fire hazards. Let us help keep the environment safe and clean for future generations through this free passenger tire drop-off and recycling event.”

Lunenburg County and Meridian Waste sponsor this event by covering the costs associated with the collection, transportation, and recycling of the collected tires. After the event, the tires will be transported to a recycling center for processing. Recycled tires can be used as reclaimed material for various projects, from new road construction to playgrounds, arena footing, and other civil engineering endeavors.
