Coldplay is known for its high energy concerts that are packed full of more lights than you can see at once, including LED wristbands that the band hands out and wants concert goers to recycle.

At each concert, Coldplay fans are given LED wristbands for the band’s Music of the Spheres world tour. The wristbands flash, glow, and pulse throughout the show but also contain LED batteries which can be dangerous in the wrong area. During the show, Coldplay displays a Wristband Recycling Leaderboard to motivate fans to recycle their wristbands, keeping those LED batteries out of the trash.

The average return rate of the wristbands, during the band’s first year of the tour, is 86% with Copenhagen posting a leading 96% return rate.

The recycling allows the band to reduce their production of wristbands by 80%, which is part of Coldplay’s sustainable efforts.
