To raise awareness around the world’s current waste production crisis and its effect on the planet, Lisbon-based artist Bordalo II has created Trash Animals, a series of artworks built with end-of-life materials. The idea for the series is “to depict nature itself, in this case, animals, out of materials that are responsible for its destruction.”

“I create, recreate, assemble and develop ideas with end-of-life material and try to relate it to sustainability, ecological and social awareness,” Bordalo II states on his website.

The larger-than-life sculptures are made from materials like damaged bumpers, burnt garbage cans, tires and appliances, most of which were found in wastelands, abandoned factories or obtained from companies going through a recycling process.
