Akron officials have announced that the city will be cracking down on the illegal tire dumping seen across the city. Kathy Graves, a city code compliance inspector, has been named to spearhead the initiative.
An estimate from the city reports that more than 3,000 tires have been tossed throughout Akron, namely at abandoned houses, vacant lots, thrown into water, and wooded areas.
Police and fire departments will be joining forces with Graves with City Council to help rid the tires throughout Akron.
Deputy Service Director Eufrancia Lash said in a news release, “we’re bringing all our resources together to combat this problem across out city using creative solutions and the community’s help.”
