Paper and cardboard could soon be banned from the Saskatoon landfill.
The city is exploring ways to stop people from putting recyclable paper and cardboard in the garbage.
“It could be done cost effectively and have a significant impact on landfill life,” said Brenda Wallace, the city’s environmental services manager.
The underlying goal of the ban is to help eliminate the need for a new landfill, and the ban would focus on commercial vehicles trucking garbage into the landfill, Wallace said.
