MUMBAI — ReCircle, resource recovery clean-tech innovator, announces the return of its Christmas Dry Waste Collection Drive to clean up Mumbai.

The dry waste collection drive is a monthly initiative that ReCircle undertakes in specific locations across the city wherein it collects all dry recyclable waste from households, schools, and corporations. The aim is to collect, segregate and divert dry waste from landfills and oceans back into the economy, thus ensuring complete traceability and transparency.

"In the midst of festive glitter, let's remember that our greatest gift to the planet is the responsibility we take for our waste. During the recently held Diwali Dry Waste Collection Drive we collected more than 20,000 kgs of waste (equivalent to 714,286 chips packets) and with your support we can make a similar impact. With an increasingly conscious consumer base we know that we can drive meaningful change one waste collection drive at a time”, said Gurashish Singh Sahni — Co-Founder & COO — ReCircle.

The collected materials include paper/cardboard, plastic, metal, glass and e-waste which will be collected and sent to ReCircle’s Material Recovery Facility in Dahisar, Mumbai. The waste will then be segregated by ReCircle’s informal waste workers or Safai Saathis where it is cleaned, processed and bailed. This processed waste is then sent out to recyclers who convert it into plastic granules. The granules are then converted to new products.
