Midland Landfill Increases Fees After Three Decades

Regulations at state and federal levels have caused the city of Midland, Mich. to raise fees for the first time in three decades.

The last increase was in 1993, with a slight reduction in 2003. However, a decrease is unlikely to occur in the future.

Fees were last raised in 1993, and were later reduced in 2003- but this time, unfortunately, Midland Public Services Director Karen Murphy says she doesn’t see that happening again. 

Residents will now pay $12 versus the previous $5.50 for waste services but will continue to get a monthly free 3-cubic-yard disposal allotment.
