Southington, CT Artist Turns Trash into Art

Southington, CT artist Stephanie Hongo, otherwise known as "Sugarfox" is turning trash into art.

Without a lot of funding at the beginning of her career, she found that “trash” was readily available. Most of her work is created out of plastic pieces, like children’s toys or discarded remote controls. The artwork is pieces that are mounted on a base for wall displays.

Hongo’s art started with a heap of clean trash in her basement that she’s accumulated. "I like the idea of facilitating trash into something other than a landfill," Hongo said.
