The Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority (CCRRA) in Pennsylvania is pushing its own sustainability efforts by going solar.

The Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority (CCRRA) in Pennsylvania is pushing its own sustainability efforts by going solar.

Katrina Pope, Office Manager of CCRRA, says the location is moving to solar-powered operations, a plan that has been in the works for years. The project, which will run $1.2 million, is moving forward thanks to Pennsylvania Solar Center’s GET Solar Program and solar company, Envinity, will be installing the array.

“This solar array that we’re going to install will power 100% of the authority’s electricity needs,” Pope said. “There is a plan for it to also power, there is an RNG Station operated by Clean Energy. There’s a potential that we could generate enough electricity to power that station as well.”
