New GreenerLight Program Sets up Sustainability Plans for Universal Movies

Universal Filmed Entertainment Group is working toward more sustainable movie shoots with its new program, GreenerLight.

The Universal Filmed Entertainment Group (UFEG) is working toward a more planet-friendly way to make movies, with that, it is launching a new program called the GreenerLight Program.

The GreenerLight Program looks to incorporate more sustainable practices and include more environmental thought when it comes to filmmaking. This process will start with script development and move to production, help weigh in on location decisions, and distribution.

Every film that UFEG greenlights for production will come with a sustainability plan, which is said to be unique to Universal.

Universal Pictures President Peter Cramer said in a statement, “Through the sustainable Production Program, we have been working for more than a decade to reduce environmental impact on out sets. … Across the filmmaking process, we will apply an inclusive strategy to increasing our sustainability efforts and continuing to do better on all fronts.”
