According to second-hand clothes sales platform ThredUp, the total resale market is expected to more than double in value from $24bn to $51bn by 2023, accounting for 10 percent of the retail market.
From vintage shopping to upcycling and repairing, Generation Z is embracing sustainable practices when it comes to fashion. For example, Fashion East alumnus Caitlin Price collaborated with her sister, vintage buyer Emily Price, to launch 3am Eternal, a collection of upcycled evening wear. 3am Eternal uses existing designer pieces from brands consumers love and they give the design a new custom look. When complete, the pieces are more interesting and completely minimize waste.
