French Architect Turns Old T-Shirts into Bricks

While studying architecture, Clarisse Merlet wanted to find a way to reduce construction waste by utilizing resources already available. This led her to create FaBRICK – a company that makes bricks out of textile waste.

The bricks are made out of two to three T-shirts’ worth of shredded material and mixed with other materials including an eco-friendly glue that Merlet created herself that are pressed into a mold to form a brick.

When ready, the bricks can be used for thermal and acoustic insulation for room partitions, decorative walls, and can be used to make furniture like lamps, stools, tables and more.
