Woman Whose Husband Died in Landfill Accident Looks for Answers

In June, Tommy Thompson was killed at the Hanes Mill Road landfill in Winston-Salem, NC.

According to news reports, he was "crushed between a bulldozer operated by a city employee and a truck."

Thompson's wife Shirley is now looking for answers. Waste Management, where Thompson was employed for 31 years, has been providing support.

An investigation into the tragedy should be complete within six months. The bulldozer operator was using a cell phone when the incident occurred, according to the bulldozer operator's father.
