The Ford manufacturing facility in Dearborn, Mich. is giving more than $100,000 worth of leather scraps left over from car seats to small businesses in nearby Detroit.

Non-profits like Mend on the Move are taking the materials and repurposing them into functional artwork and pieces such as earrings and ornaments.

Likewise, Pingree Detroit has used the leather from Ford to produce wallets, bags and more.
