Call2Recycle and the Panasonic Power Tools Division have launched a new rechargeable battery recycling program.
The Atlanta-based Call2Recycle and the division of Secaucus, N.J.-based Panasonic Corp. of North America will work with Panasonic’s power tools customers to place Call2Recycle collection boxes at plant assembly lines to collect used rechargeable batteries from cordless tools. Call2Recycle will recycle all rechargeable battery packs and cells up to 11 pounds, Call2Recycle said in a news release.
The new initiative creates a single umbrella program that replaces the current patchwork of recycling programs across customer sites.
The used batteries will be shipped from the plant to an approved battery processor, which will convert them into new materials used in new batteries or steel alloy.
Call2Recycle is developing a program to educate customers on how the program works.
