Instead of abandoning Torrance County, the board of the Estancia Valley Solid Waste Authority decided at its meeting on Tuesday to try to work things out.
The board went into the meeting with an agenda item seeking to end the contract with the county to provide garbage service. The county currently contracts with the authority to operate eight transfer stations where residents can take their garbage.
The authority and county have been at loggerheads for months, however, over whether the county pays enough to run the stations.
