The Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation is thrilled to have a new drop-off program in place for foam! It can’t be recycled in your bin or cart at home, because once mixed with other recycling, it can’t be sorted and sold. Now, however, you have the option of saving foam up and taking an occasional trip to drop it off. Here's how to get your foam recycled at RIRRC.

Toss spongy foam: One type of foam that is not accepted through this drop-off program is spongy polyethylene. Think of a "#1 Fan" finger or the porous type of packaging foam you can squeeze — this spongy foam still needs to go in the trash.
