‘Save Our Oceans’ Event Aims to Educate About Plastics in our Water

An event in Terre Haute, Ind. Is holding a gathering to educate locals about the dangers of plastic waste that ends up in oceans and other water ways.

An event in Terre Haute, Ind. Is holding a gathering to educate locals about the dangers of plastic waste that ends up in oceans and other water ways.

The Save the Oceans gathering, hosted by the 12 Points Creators Market, will take place this week with the goal of teaching people about practical ways to reduce plastic consumption and the effects of plastic in our water.

Brenna Deal, the event’s organizer, says that she is concerned about our water quality and the impact of pollution on the environment and public health. Government studies show that forever chemicals are in nearly half of all U.S. faucets.

PFAS, a cancer-causing synthetic compound, contaminates drinking water in communities of all sizes, including public and private water systems. Experts say that PFAS are entering our drinking water through products like food packaging and clothes.
