The NABORS landfill in Baxter County, Arkansas may be inching closer to closure.
This week, the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality posted preliminary engineering plans for the multi-million dollar construction project.
Early estimates now put the closure at more than $18-million dollars.
"Are all six counties responsible of this,” says Ozark Mountain Solid Waste District chair, Terry Ott, “is a certain tax going to be put on each family to cover this for the next number of years?”
Ott says those decisions will be made by the ADEQ and the receivership -- responsible for determining how the bond holders will be reimbursed.
