Wisconsin Plans New and Expanded Landfills

Wisconsin’s Brown, Outagamie and Winnebago counties have collaborated to coordinate waste disposal and recycling in the Outagamie County landfill, which will be full by the end of 2022. At that time, Brown County will manage the trash with a new landfill site. The tri-counties are also in the process of expanding the Outagamie County landfill. Both the new and expanded landfills are needed because the tri-counties tonnages have increased significantly over the last six years. Based on the savings that the tri-counties achieved and the potential savings going forward, running two operations is best to serve the region.
