The state of Maine is finding that mitigating its PFAS following the passage of a new state law is bigger than it looks.

Twin Rivers Paper Company in Madawaska has one of the highest levels of "forever chemicals" permitted in its discharge. In fact, the issue of high concentrations is common across the state's landfills.

The Banger Daily News reports that "most samples had several times more PFAS than safe drinking water."
