Rumpke Faces Opposition to Landfill Expansion

Ohio-based Rumpke is seeking to expand a landfill in Whitewater Township, Ohio.

The waste and recycling company recently purchased land that brings the total acreage at the site to 466 acres. A permit submitted to the Ohio EPA in December indicates the current waste allowed at the site is 100 tons. 

If the permit is approved, that will increase to 1,500 tons of materials per day. However, residents are expressing concerns about what they might mean for the township.
