Linn County Plans For Life After the Closure of Landfill

After Linn County's landfill closes in 2044, the county will not have an active landfill within its bounds. Officials are looking into their options.

The Marion landfill in Linn County, Iowa will be closing in the year 2044. With this future in sight, government officials of the area have made it clear they will not be opening a new landfill in the county. According to these same officials, no land in the county meets the zoning requirements. They have begun the search for other waste disposal methods and the potential of a landfill outside of the county they can utilize.
