The 80-year-old Haverhill, Mass. landfill is a Superfund site. Now, it is set to be capped.
The cost is expected to reach $8 million, which city council will borrow. In addition to accepting municipal solid waste, Haverhill Landfill also took waste from the Haverhill Wastewater Treatment Plant. The project is expected to take two years.
