Fire Breaks Out at Landfill in Mayflower, Ark.

A fire at Alternative Waste Management Landfill in Mayflower, Ark. burned all day Tuesday, Feb. 1.
According to news reports, a boom erupted from the area of the landfill around 7 a.m., followed by smoke and flames. Neighbors are circulating a petition to move the landfill elsewhere.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
