Environmental Experts Say New Hanover County Landfill is Filling Up Fast

Environmental experts in North Carolina are saying the New Hanover County landfill is shrinking fast because of a burgeoning population and an increase in "major storms."

The landfill's Northern property is the highest point in the county at 155 feet, and the Southern property was supposed to last 90 years but is filling up quickly. Estimates indicate the Southern portion may fill up in fewer than 30 years.
