Penton Waste and Sustainability Group Names Hickey Sales Director; Ugianskis-Fishman Departs

Penton’s Waste and Sustainability Group, which operates WasteExpo and Waste360, has named Mark Hickey as sales director.

The company also said Rita Ugianskis-Fishman, managing director of the group, has left the company to become vice president and general manager of the Trevose, Pa.-based Advertising Specialty Institute Show Group.

Hickey, based in Chicago, is a 30-year veteran of business-to-business information. He previously worked at New York-based Penton on flagship brands such as Telephony and other technology, natural products and pharmaceutical industries. He most recently worked at the Santa Monica, Calif.-based Advanstar Communications Inc. He has experience in events, digital, marketing services and print products.

The WasteExpo and Waste360 sales team reports to Hickey.

“Mark has tremendous skills selling packages and marketing services programs and will be a strong addition to the team,” said Warren Bimblick, senior vice president - strategy and business development
for Penton. The group will report directly to Bimblick for now.

Ugianskis-Fishman has managed WasteExpo since 1999, and also has been responsible for two niche conferences, Waste360 magazine and Waste360 digital products, including five e-newsletters.

“We here at Penton are very proud of Rita and her 15-year contribution to our company and the waste industry. We wish her great success,” Bimblick said.

Penton now is searching for a new head of its Waste and Sustainability Group.
