Jeanie Dubinski, chief legal officer for Longwood, Fla.-based Waste Pro USA and the 2013 EIA Women’s Council president, clearly contains multitudes. She’s an international traveler who feels at home in Spain but is simultaneously fascinated by rural Americana (a nice way of saying “rednecks”). A talented soccer player, she nevertheless has reverence for college football. And a crippling fear of heights doesn’t stop her from wishing for the ability to fly.

Read our lighthearted Q&A with Dubinski to learn more of what makes her tick, since you’ll likely run into her at WasteExpo. Just mind your manners.

Waste Age: What is your pet peeve?

Dubinski: People who don’t have (or use) manners.

Waste Age: What is your idea of the perfect day?

Dubinski: Waking up with my family (husband, Ron; son, Aiden, 8; and daughter, Carys, 7) at our home in a small town in Spain, spend the entire day on the beach and the evening walking into town. It is the best place on Earth for us to get quality family time together.

Waste Age: What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

Dubinski: “Be open to the opinions and thoughts of others, otherwise you become a prisoner to your own point of view.”

Waste Age: What was the last book you read?

Dubinski: “Lean In” by Sheryl Sandberg.

Waste Age: What is your favorite movie?

Dubinski: “Goodfellas.”

Waste Age: What is your favorite TV show?

Dubinski: “House Hunters International.” Other than that, any show about American subcultures:  “Swamp People,” “Moonshiners,” etc. If the show features Americans but still needs subtitles, I am hooked.

Waste Age: Beatles or Rolling Stones?

Dubinski: Beatles.

Waste Age: What is the strangest piece of trash you’ve ever come across?

Dubinski: While horseback riding with my dad in Pennsylvania, we came upon a house that had a huge brown bear carcass out with their trash.

Waste Age: Do you prefer the beach or mountains?

Dubinski: Beach.

Waste Age: Besides your family, what is the one thing you couldn’t live without?

Dubinski: Starbucks shaken green iced tea!.

Waste Age: If you could invite three people — living or dead — to a dinner party, who would they be?

Dubinski: Ohio State University football coach Woody Hayes, University of Michigan football coach Bo Schembechler, and my deceased grandfather Roy Hungerford, who was the biggest fan ever and loved watching Woody and Bo battle.

Waste Age: If you weren’t serving in your current role, what would you like to be?

Dubinski: Judge Judy’s replacement. It’s Jerry Springer for lawyers. I would never be bored.

Waste Age: What is your favorite sports team?

Dubinski: The Ohio State Buckeyes.

Waste Age: If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

Dubinski: The ability to fly. No more airports!

Waste Age: What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve done?

Dubinski: I have a terrible fear of heights (above my five inch heels), so climbing to the top of the Eiffel Tower was a huge accomplishment.

Waste Age: What’s the one talent you have that not many people know about?

Dubinski: In high school, I was the fourth ranked soccer player in the nation and represented the United Staes all over the world playing soccer.
