Safelight Autoglass Diverts 23,000 Tons of Glass From Landfills in 2014

Under its partnership with Shark Glass Recycling North America, Columbus, Ohio based windscreen replacement firm, Safelite AutoGlass recycled more than 1.3 million windshields in 2014, diverting more than 23,000 tons (20,800 tonnes) of waste from the landfill.

The company explained that windshields are not commonly recycled because they are made from laminated glass, which is created using two sheets of glass with a clear resin interlay called Polyvinyl Butyral (PVB) between.
