On July 17, DeKalb County, Ga., will stop accepting glass for curbside recycling. Residents will then have the option to take their glass recyclables to 16 drop-off locations across the county.
The glass collected by the county has been going to landfill since 2015 because the county’s recycling company, Pratt Industries, opened a facility that didn’t process glass. Now, the county has signed a contract with Strategic Materials, which will pay the county $30 for every ton of glass the county drops off to be processed at its facility.

DeKalb County’s government is asking residents to stop putting glass in their curbside recycling containers.
Instead, those who want to recycle their glass can bring it to any of 16 locations across the county.
The new glass recycling process goes into effect July 17 after it was approved by the DeKalb Commission on Tuesday.
