Officials say 1,300 to 1,400 tons of trash are brought to the Ada County Landfill every day, but now an advisory council has been formed to reduce that amount.
"This is really an opportunity for everyone to roll up their sleeves and decrease the amount and reduce the amount of waste we send to the landfill," said Vince Trimboli, spokesperson for the City of Boise's Public Works.
One idea is composting.
However, Trimboli says the cost to ratepayers and what we do with the compost is still in the works.
