HARRISON, AR. - The Ozark Mountain Solid Waste District is no longer funding programs to accept electronic waste at its recycling centers.

At future board meetings, the Ozark Mountain Solid Waste District Board of Directors anticipates it will have to answer concerns from residents regarding e-waste, and how they’ll need to properly dispose of it. Hillrey Adams, Mountain Home Mayor, explained that Arkansas seized funding to the solid waste districts, making that money for e-waste recycling no longer available.

The Baxter Day Service Center would collect e-waste such as computers, phones, copiers, cables, and more. Adams says that it is not known if the center will still collect e-waste and he hopes that these items don’t end up in landfills or are thrown out on the side of the roads.

Adams anticipates the board will address e-waste issues and concerns in future board meetings, but he says it will not be an easy issue to address. The next board meeting will likely be held in the next two months.
