Article-Progressive Waste Opens Recycling Facility in Canada

Progressive Waste Solutions Ltd. has opened a new material recovery facility (MRF) in Calgary, Alberta.

The Vaughan, Ontario-based waste and recycling company is using two systems by Plessisville, Quebec-based Machinex Industries Inc. The first consists of two transfer compactors with remote power packs that have the capacity to load 1,000 metric tons of municipal solid waste per day, according to a Machinex news release.

The second system is the commercial MRF consisting of an in-feed conveyor system, a pre-sort, double-deck adjustable old corrugated cardboard screen and a sort conveyor over multiple bunkers with a finishing trommel to end the line.

The facility has room for growth, the company said.
