Landfill Management Co. and Granger Energy Services have begun operation of a landfill gas-to-energy facility in Watervliet, Mich.
The Orchard Hill Generating Station will generate 3.2 megawatts of electricity, which is being sold through Michigan Public Power Agency, according to a news release.
The project was developed by Lansing, Mich.-based Granger, a waste management, recycling and energy company, and Landfill Management, Kalamazoo, Mich., which owns and operates the Orchard Hill Landfill.
The operation should power about 2,000 homes, the companies said.
