Now that Butte County has finalized its waste franchising agreement, negotiations continue to split the city of Chico between two refuse haulers.
City Manager Mark Orme said the goal had been for the city to have a new agreement in place at the same time as the county, but agreement is still needed on several details. He hopes something can be in place by July 1.
“This is actually typically in negotiating these franchise agreements,” he said. “It took the county, what, two years? And we were trying to do it in six months.”
