  • Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Heil Environmental has begun a $6.4 million expansion of its Fort Payne, Ala., manufacturing facility. The expansion includes new equipment as well as additional office space, break rooms and locker facilities for plant employees. The new office space will be certified by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. Completion is slated for the end of the year.

  • The Environmental Industry Associations is seeking presentations for the WasteExpo 2011 educational program. The submission deadline is Aug. 20, and submissions will be reviewed for innovation, relevance and timeliness. Advertisements will not be accepted.   • Creve Coeur, Mo.-based Smurfit-Stone Container Corp., one of the nation's largest paper recyclers, emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection at the end of June and began trading on the New York Stock Exchange. "We are re-energized, committed to serving the needs of our customers and achieving long-term profitable growth for our shareholders," said Patrick J. Moore, CEO of Smurfit-Stone, in a statement.
