At this time of year, when many of us are surrounded by friends, family, and abundance, it is important to remember that some are not as fortunate. To this end, the New York Times profiles 58-year-old Patricia Walsh, who manages to avoid homelessness and eke out a meager living by supplementing a tiny disability check with income from collecting recyclables.
