Revolution Energy Solutions (RES) has opened its first North Carolina anaerobic digestion (AD) project, a farm-based waste-to-energy operation in Magnolia, N.C.

The AD operation, NC-1, is a biogas project developed by RES, with farm hosts Murphy Family Ventures, RES said in a news release.

North Carolina is the second largest pork producing state in the country and generates 40 million gallons of swine manure daily.

“Projects such as NC-1 are a gateway to rural economic development and renewable energy production,” said Alan Tank, co-founder and CEO of RES. “Not only are we generating significant electricity and employment opportunities, we are greatly enhancing the farm’s existing waste management system to improve processing and create previously unachievable environmental benefits.”
