Paris-based SUEZ is pushing for the UK to roll out the pay-as-you-throw concept, which entails charging individual residents and businesses based on the weight of their bins. SUEZ is also calling for all packaging sold in the UK to be 50 percent recycled by 2025 and a tax on using new or virgin materials for packaging.

These efforts, according to the firm, would help boost recycling and cut council taxes waste collection bills.
