Rally to Oppose NYC Transfer Station Bill

Nearly 100 people participated in a rally on the steps of City Hall in New York City in opposition to a bill that would cap the percentage of the city’s waste that can be handled in any one community district. The rally included representatives from Laborers Local Union 108, United Service Workers Union Local 339, and the International Union of Journeyman & Allied Trades Local 726, the National Waste & Recycling Association and the New York City Restaurant Association. City Councilmen Ben Kallos (District 5-Manhattan) and Mark Treyger (District 47-Brooklyn) also spoke against the proposed legislation.
